BARCELONA WORLD RACE

The inaugural Barcelona World Race began 7 November 2007. The race is scheduled to take place every 4 years.

The 60 foot monohulls will be sailed by teams of 2 highly experienced participants, either successul solo sailors or members of winning crews.

The ocean race's main sponsor is the brewery Estrella Damm.

The race will start and finish in the Catalan city of Barcelona, sailing first round the Cape of Good Hope and negotiating Cape Horn on the homeward leg. The round trip will probably take around 3 months.
